Women's Livelihoods

Skills to earn. Confidence to choose.

A livelihood shapes a woman's choices for herself and her family. Our work combines Self-Help Groups, financial literacy and enterprise support.

Women's Livelihoods

Plan a livelihood around your goals.

A woman planning a livelihood brings her own skills, responsibilities and ambitions. Understanding money and learning alongside others can help her consider the options that fit her life.

Our work brings together women's Self-Help Groups, financial literacy and enterprise support.

Women's Livelihoods

Learn and plan with other women.

In a Self-Help Group, women can discuss money, share experience and learn from one another as they consider ways to earn. SKSPM has mobilised and supported 1,226 women's Self-Help Groups.

Tell us your village or district to ask about group activity near you, membership and members' responsibilities.

Women's Livelihoods

Understand your money. Make your own choices.

Understanding income, savings, costs, repayment and risk helps women compare options and decide for themselves. Ask SKSPM about financial-literacy activities.

Before making a financial commitment, consider:

  • What money is coming in, and what needs to be paid?
  • What unexpected costs could arise?
  • What happens if income changes?
  • What does the agreement require?

Women's Livelihoods

A business idea needs a practical plan.

Women considering a business need to understand customers, costs and the time involved. Ask us about enterprise support that can help you plan.

Before committing money, consider:

  1. What would you offer, and who would buy it?
  2. What materials, equipment and skills would you need?
  3. What would each sale cost to deliver?
  4. How much time could you give?
  5. What risks should you plan for?

Women's Livelihoods

Understand the terms before making a commitment.

Ask the programme team about cooperative banking opportunities, the relevant institution and eligibility. Before borrowing, understand the interest, fees, repayment schedule and consequences of missed payments. Joining a group does not guarantee credit.

Women's Livelihoods

Begin with your location and goals.

Tell us whether you are interested in a Self-Help Group, financial literacy or enterprise support, and where you live. Ask about local activity, membership, meeting arrangements and any participant costs.
